Frequently Asked Questions

Do I get to keep the pieces I make/paint?
Yes, of course! Your creation is all yours! We will put it through a final firing to get the paint to become waterproof and food safe.

How long will it take before I can pick up my piece?
Most pieces will be ready in about a week after the workshop. You will always be contacted by email by the studio when your piece is ready with available timeslots for you to pick up your creation.

Can I paint whatever I want or is the workshop guided?
You can paint whatever you want on your piece, but we are happy to help you get started, if you get stuck. Many participants scroll through instagram and Pinterest to find inspiration!

Are the pieces dishwasher safe?
Yes, but over time the dishwasher can make the pieces less shiny and more dull looking. We recommend washing larger pieces by hand.

Are the pieces microwave safe?
Unfortunately not – microwaves can damaged the paint and make it peel off.

Will the paint wash off my clothes?
Yes, the paint is waterbased and non-toxic and can be removed in the washing machine or with a damp cloth.

What happens with my piece when I’m done painting?
When you’ve finished paiting your ceramic piece, it has to be dipped in a clear glaze and go through a second firing. This clear glaze will give your piece a beautiful shiny coating that will also make your piece food safe. The following process is lengthy – before your piece can be dipped it needs to dry for a few hours. After the clear glaze has been applied, the piece will be placed in a kiln, which will heat up to 1010 degrees over 12 hours. After reaching the peak temperature, the kiln will cool down, which takes another 12 hours or more. The kiln can be opened at around 40 degrees and then your piece is ready!

What happens if my piece is damaged under the final firing?
Ceramics can be unpredictable and occasionally accidents happen. Should your piece be damaged while being finished at the studio, we will reach out to you and offer you either a discount or a replacement piece, depending on the type of damage.

Is the studio handicap accessible?
While we do have an elevator, there are 4 steps without elevator. At the moment we do not have a ramp. If you need any assistance getting up the steps, please inform us beforehand, so we can assist you.
